From a sentence to a guide you can stand behind

HomeBase doesn't dump a wall of text. It builds your guide in passes — so it's scoped to your situation, sharpened with expert tips, and ready to act on.

1

Describe

Tell HomeBase the task in plain words — “backwash my Pentair FNS Plus 60 when the pool's dirty.” Add a photo if it helps.

2

Scope

It frames the job first — objective, equipment, assumptions — and confirms with you before building anything.

3

Enrich

A research pass mines expert, hard-to-find pro tips and catches the mistakes most how-to videos skip.

4

Source

It lists the exact parts and materials, wired to the step that needs them and a link to buy.

Why “living”?

A video is generic and gone the moment it ends. HomeBase is built around your home — and it gets better the more you use it.

Made for your exact gear

Guides are scoped to your specific equipment and conditions — not the generic case a video or a repair wiki has to assume.

Organized into your home's manual

Every guide is saved by area — Pool, Kitchen, HVAC, Garage — so your house's know-how lives in one place instead of scattered tabs.

Keeps your place

Tap through steps in the field and your progress is remembered. Lock your phone mid-task and come back exactly where you were.

From step to cart

The parts a guide calls for link straight to where you can buy them — no hunting for the right filter or the right sealant.

Backwash a Pentair FNS Plus 60 DE filter

When the pressure gauge climbs 8–10 PSI over its clean baseline, backwashing clears trapped debris and restores flow. Plan about 20 minutes.

1
Turn off the pump and let the system pressure drop to zero before touching the valve.
Warning
Never move the multiport valve while the pump is running — it can blow out the internal gasket.
2
Set the valve to “Backwash” and run the pump for about 2 minutes, until the sight glass runs clear.
Pro tip
Use the 3-cycle method: backwash, then “Rinse” for 15 seconds, and repeat. One long cycle leaves DE caked on the grids.
