Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 7, 2026
HomeBase turns a plain-language description of a home task into a step-by-step guide. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can access or delete your data.
The short version
- You can use HomeBase without an account. When signed out, your guides are stored under an anonymous device identifier, not tied to your name or email.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- To generate a guide, the text and any photos you submit are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to produce the result.
- You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account inside the app.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Task descriptions and content you create — the prompts you type, the guides generated for you, the areas and tags you organize them under, your step progress, and any follow-up questions you ask while working through a guide.
- Photos — if you attach a photo of a task or part, the image is sent to our AI provider to help generate a more accurate guide, and is stored with your data when it is part of a saved conversation.
- Voice input — if you dictate instead of typing, your device's operating system converts your speech to text using Apple's or Google's built-in speech recognition. We receive the resulting text, not the audio; the audio handling is governed by your device platform's privacy policy.
- Account information — if you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, our authentication provider (Stytch) gives us a unique user identifier and, depending on what the provider shares, your name and email address. We use these to identify your account and sync your library across devices.
Information collected automatically
- A device identifier — a random id generated on first launch so your library can be stored and retrieved when you are signed out. It is not linked to your real-world identity.
- Diagnostic data (optional) — if crash reporting is enabled for a build, we use Sentry to collect crash reports and error diagnostics (such as device model, OS version, and a stack trace) to fix problems. This is configured not to attach personally identifying information.
How we use your information
- To generate guides from your descriptions and photos.
- To store, organize, and sync your library across your devices.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
How your information is shared
We use a small number of service providers (processors) to operate the app. We share only what each needs to do its job:
- Anthropic — receives your prompts and any attached photos to generate guide content. Used for AI generation only.
- Stytch — handles Google/Apple sign-in and manages your session if you choose to create an account.
- Vercel and Upstash — host the service and store your library data.
- Apple / Google — provide on-device speech recognition (if you dictate) and the sign-in providers (if you create an account).
- Sentry — receives crash and error diagnostics, when enabled.
- Amazon — if you tap a product link, you are taken to Amazon, which is governed by Amazon's own privacy policy. See "Affiliate links" below.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
Affiliate links
HomeBase may participate in the Amazon Associates Program. When affiliate links are active, some product links include a referral tag, and we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Tapping a link takes you to Amazon, whose privacy practices we don't control.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data until you delete it. You can delete individual guides at any time. If you have an account, you can permanently delete it — and all of your guides, areas, progress, and saved conversations — from Settings → Account → Delete account inside the app. Deleting your account removes your data from our storage and deletes your sign-in record. Backups and diagnostic logs may persist for a limited period before being overwritten.
Your choices and rights
- Use the app signed out to keep your data on an anonymous device namespace.
- Delete individual guides, or your whole account, from within the app.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Contact us using the details below to make a request.
Children's privacy
HomeBase is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. Account data is scoped to your verified user so that one account cannot access another's data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International users
Our service providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. By using HomeBase, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data-protection laws than your own.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be highlighted in the app.
